Former FPE board member Elisabeth Kincaid published “Holiness and Humility: Insights on Preaching from St. John Henry Newman’s Parochial and Plain Sermons” in February 2022.
As Elisabeth writes:
“[John Henry] Newman’s preaching provides a model for leading others to both holiness and humility, we can perhaps extrapolate the figure of the preacher from one of Newman’s sermons. The preacher should challenge those who confuse ceremonial observances or schemes for the common good with the whole of their religion.”
